Student Leadership

In 2013 a new student leadership model was introduced to give all our students in the senior 5/6 classroom the opportunities to develop their leadership capacity, qualities, potential and develop their connectedness to our school and their peers.

Students, with the Principal’s and Staff endorsement, elect two students to be School Captains for the school year from the year 6 group. In House groups, students also elect House Captains to lead their respective team – either Goulburn (green) or Waranga (red).

All students in the 5/6 class are considered leaders and all participate in the four leadership teams. They rotate their teams into the different leadership areas each semester. Student leadership teams include: Environmental/Safety; Sports; Community/School Ambassadors; and Junior School Council. Over the two year period in 5/6 it is expected students will participate in each of the four teams.

Our Student Leaders are expected to set examples to other students in terms of their dress, attitude and behaviour at all times. All grade 6 students will have the opportunity to attend the Leadership Conference held in Melbourne early in the year. All grade 5 students will attend a Leadership Conference held at MPS.
